Privacy Policy

Short version: we count visits so we know whether anyone is reading this, and we keep your email address if you give it to us. We set no cookies, we never store your IP address, and we cannot recognise you tomorrow.
What we collect
If you give us your email
When you use the email form we store your address, the date, and which product you signed up about. That is the whole record.
When you simply visit
We count visits using our own software, running on our own servers. There is no Google Analytics here, no Meta pixel, and no third-party tag of any kind. Nobody else receives your visit.
For each visit we record which page was opened, which site you arrived from (the site name only, never the full link), the town or city your internet connection appears to be in, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, how far down the page you scrolled, and which buttons were pressed.
We do not store your IP address. It is combined with a secret that changes every night and turned into a scrambled code, and the address itself is thrown away. That code is how we avoid counting one person three times in an afternoon. Because the secret changes at midnight, the code changes too — so we cannot tell that today's visitor is the same person who came yesterday, and we could not work it out later even if we wanted to.
We set no cookies and store nothing on your device. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we count nothing at all.
The upshot: we can see that eleven people from Los Angeles read the page this morning. We cannot see who they were, and we cannot follow any of them anywhere else.
What we will collect when you order
We are not selling yet. Once we are, placing an order will mean giving us your name, shipping address, email address, and phone number if you choose to add one. We will use those to pack your order, ship it, and email you about it.
We never see your card number. Payments are handled by Stripe, which takes the card details directly. We receive only a confirmation that the payment went through and the last four digits.
Why we have it
- To tell you when the product is available, if you asked us to.
- To send you an order confirmation and shipping updates.
- To answer you when you email us.
That is it. We do not email you about anything you did not sign up for.
Who else can see it
A few companies help us run the business, and they see only the part they need:
- Supabase
- Stores our email list, order records and visit counts
- Vercel
- Serves this website and tells us the visitor's rough location
- Stripe
- Processes payments
- Shipping carriers
- Deliver your order
We do not sell your information. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. If a law or a court order requires us to produce records, we will comply, and we will tell you unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
How long we keep it
Email addresses stay on our list until you ask us to remove them. Order records are kept for seven years, because tax law requires it.
Visit records are deleted after 90 days. What survives is a daily count — how many visits, from roughly where — with no visitor codes in it at all.
Your choices
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. You can also email us and ask us to do any of the following:
- Send you a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your record entirely.
One honest limit: this only applies to your email address and any orders. We cannot find, show you, or delete your visit records, because there is nothing in them that identifies you — that is the point of them.
Write to hello@hoku-clean.com and we will do it within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you live in California, these rights come from the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell or share personal information as that law defines those terms, so there is nothing for you to opt out of.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us their email, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Everything travels over an encrypted connection and is stored with providers who encrypt it at rest. No system is perfect. If we ever learn that your information was exposed, we will tell you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email, we will tell you directly.
